Non-newtonian Fluids Lab Write-up--Repost

For those who need to make up this lab, here are instructions.

Step 1: mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water until it has the consistency of pancake batter.

Step 2: Record five observations of the physical properties of the non-newtonian fluid. Consider whether the fluid has properties of a liquid or solid, or both.

Step 3: Perform a series of small "experiments" on the fluid. Basically, play around with the substance to try to identify when it behaves like a solid and when it behaves like a liquid.

Your write-up should include:

A. 5 observations of the non-newtonian fluid

B. 3 "Experiments", include the details of what you did, and what you observed.

C. Questions:

1) When does the fluid act as a solid? When does it act as a liquid?

2) Describe the behavior or the fluid in terms of what the particles in the fluid do.
